INDUCTION MELTING FURNACE
In induction melting furnance, coil is used to heat the crucible by inducing the current in the crucible. The crucible gets heated because of electrical resistance. More stronger are the induced currents, more heat is generated. Due to generation of heat, the metal inside the crucible gets heated up. The induction furnance has a start and stop switch which starts and stops the induction melting furnace. The mechanism is also provided to set the melting temperture of the metal. When melting point of the metal is reached, the induction process is stopped and no longer currents are induced in the crucible. The induction melting furnace is also connected to water chiller. The water chiller is used to control the temperature of the coil from rising. The water chiller from inside is equipped with a compressor which cools the water through a R22 gas. The main advantage of induction melting over normal melting furnaces is that in induction melting the purity of gold remains same at all points when the liquid gold is soldified. In other words the touch of gold or the number of carats in a gold piece remains same when liquid gold solidifies. Also, the other advantage of induction melting furnace is that in induction melting furnace, there is mechanism of automatic stirring the liquid metal and goldsmith do not have to use the stirring rod to stir.
